If you have ever wanted to learn dog grooming to a professional level now is the time to contact Jannene Theobald of The School of Grooming located in the Animal Shack pet store on Paerata Rd, Pukekohe.
Jannene has recently returned from Australia where she completed an industry course Certificate 4 In workplace Training and Assessment, qualifying her to teach grooming including washing and blow drying, clipping and full haircut, scissoring, nails, ears, teeth, and colour by design.

In New Zealand there is a shortage of dog groomers and Jannene is able to teach both basic and latest style haircuts -each breed has its own specific style and haircut. All materials and textbooks can be sourced through Jannene who will look to teach one or two students at a time. There will be a certificate at the end of each course, which covers beginners, intermediate, advanced, colour by design and existing groomers.

Courses are held Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm.  Accommodation is available.

Thank you so much for another great week of training, I just did not realise how much there is to learn about dog grooming, and the handling of dogs.  I can't wait to get started.  You have a fantastic team, and I loved the new set up.

As for the accomodation, it was yet again first class, and a home from home. Great food.

Having just finished the last level of your grooming course I can't recommend it strongly enough to anyone considering signing up.  I feel I've been introduced to everything to do with grooming dogs, from the basics right through to the business aspect of running a grooming parlour.  Being taught in a busy grooming parlour certainly gives you a realistic idea of  the daily routines.

I found the course very strong regarding the techniques taught to groom different types of dogs as well as arming me with the confidence to run my own grooming parlour.

Hi Jannene,

I have achieved the first two level courses for dog grooming and I couldn't have done it without the great teaching of Jannene and support of her husband Bruce.  Both the courses were so interesting and informative it made me want to learn and experience more, so I'm booked in to do the advanced level.

It was amazing to see you and your team work your magic on the dogs and transform them! The atmosphere was a joy to be in.

I must also credit the accommodation that I was given.  Kevin and Renee are so welcoming, funny and the most delightful people to stay with.  The food was great, the bed was comfortable and the best company ever!  I even miss all the rocks, rum and the daily dog walk.

So looking forward to August to finish the course for all the reasons stated above.

I would like to say how much I enjoyed the first two weeks of the course and I am looking forward to catching up for the next 2 weeks.   Your team were great, and a pleasure to work alongside.  I have learnt so much.

The accommodation was first class.  A VERY GOOD evening meal, and a relaxing atmosphere, which was great to come back to after a hard day studying.

WOW what a fantastic week!!!
I give you credit to your professionalism and team who went out of their way to welcome and assist during the course.
The one on one tuition was excellent.
The way in which you combined your day to day running of your salon with course teachings was once again a credit to your professionalism. 
It gave one a real taste of what it takes to be a K9 Groomer.
I will definitely see you both again for Stage II course.
It is fantastic to have persons such as yourselves who are in the pet industry who take pride in their works and are willing to share their knowledge.
